The 2015 Meat Management Industry Awards ceremony brought together the top names in the UK meat industry to reward the best, products, people, services and suppliers in the business, as voted for by readers of Meat Management magazine and judged by industry experts.

The prestigious black tie dinner and award presentation took place on Tuesday, 30th June 2015 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, NEC Birmingham and was attended by over 500 guests.

Uncle Henry’s Farm Shop, Butchery & Café just north of Lincoln in Grayingham was one of four finalists for the prestigious Britain’s Best Butcher’s Shop category at the Meat Management awards. Each of the four finalists was visited by two judges, Keith Fisher of BPEX and Andrew Garvey formerly of the BDCI, both of whom have many years in the meat trade.

This year’s winner was announced as Cam Family Butchers based in Gloucestershire and the other two finalists in the category was Elite Meat of Harrogate and Moody Sow Farm Shop from Cardiff.

Talking about their success in being a finalist Emma Ward, General Manager at Uncle Henry’s said:

We are delighted to have been recognised as one of the top four Britain’s Best Butcher’s Shops. Our butchery prides itself on our home reared pork products and local beef, lamb and poultry and it’s great to be recognised for our teams hard work and dedication to producing top quality products for our customers.

The judge’s comments about Uncle Henry’s stated:

The butchery unit is part of a farm diversification business, which provides cafe facilities, high quality food & drink and fresh meat produce. There are many awards on display in the butchery department and the site also provides a children’s play area, patio dining area plus conference and function facilities. The butchery is of a high standard with products displayed well.

Uncle Henry’s is an award winning farm shop, butchery and cafe located next to the village of Grayingham, ten miles outside of Gainsborough. Uncle Henry’s opened in September 2006 and is part of a family farming business managed by Emma Ward, daughter of the owners Steve and Meryl Ward. Emma is the fifth generation to live and work at the mixed arable and livestock farm where high welfare pig production and environmental stewardship are important parts of the farming business.

In our farm shop and cafe, we offer our customers a real farm to fork experience combined with great customer service. We have a wide range of products available in the shop including pork and potatoes from our own farm and we are also proud to support over 40 Lincolnshire producers – our local food heroes!
