Since its start just over a year ago, Lincolnshire County Council’s ERDF-funded supply chain development and growth programme, SUPPLY Lincolnshire, has dedicated over 600 hours of support to local SMEs aspiring to become a bigger part of the county’s supply chain.
Nicolas Garnier, Project Manager with Pera Consulting (UK) Ltd., the firm tasked with providing supply chain growth support for SUPPLY Lincolnshire, said:
We have truly enjoyed working with every single one of the over 55 businesses that has used our service. This milestone is just the tip of the iceberg for us, though, because we’re looking forward to spending this summer helping even more SMEs.
We just ran a successful series of workshops in June, so now our focus will be on developing bespoke plans and providing one-to-one support so that each company’s individual needs are met.
SUPPLY Lincolnshire is also seeing growth on its online Business Lincolnshire Supplier Register, which was designed to provide Lincolnshire SMEs, large enterprises and public sector organisations with a single location to identify suitable local suppliers. Since its launch, over 100 firms have signed up.
Sara Kendall, Senior Project Officer for SUPPLY Lincolnshire, said:
We’re really happy with the steady growth the supplier register has seen since its launch last year, but, ideally, we’d like to see all Lincolnshire firms signed on!
I don’t think companies realise how quick it is to join. For just five minutes of time, the benefits to be had, like sharing company information for potential buyers to research and review, are tremendous – plus it gives larger firms the opportunity to conduct local procurement exercises online.
Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development at LCC said:
SUPPLY Lincolnshire has really helped strengthen the county’s supply chain, which, over time, will help give the local and regional economies a boost. We look forward to seeing what else the programme can achieve before it comes to an end later this year!
Partnered with Lincolnshire County Council, Procurement Lincolnshire and the Greater Lincolnshire Enterprise Partnership, SUPPLY Lincolnshire have created a free support programme, which has successfully developed small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) approach to winning contracts from the County’s biggest public and private sector organisations under their guidance.
