St John’s Village nominated for two national awards

LINCOLNSHIRE’S £40 million development, St John’s Village, has been nominated for two accolades at the prestigious Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards for Large Development of the Year and Refurbishment / Conversion Project of the Year.

LINCOLNSHIRE’S £40 million development, St John’s Village, has been nominated for two accolades at the prestigious Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards for Large Development of the Year and Refurbishment / Conversion Project of the Year.

St John’s Village is the Grade II listed former hospital in Bracebridge Heath just outside of Lincoln that is being sympathetically brought back to life by developer Mabec. 184 homes are being created, 106 of these will be within the existing listed building (64 houses and 42 apartments) and 78 new homes will be built in the grounds.

Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards celebrate and recognise the UK’s finest developments and is open to developers who feel they have a unique scheme that is deserving of an accolade.

To be considered for the Large Development category, the site has to be over 51 units and for the Refurbishment / Conversion Project of the Year, judges are looking for a building that is being converted for a different use.

St John’s Village has already recently been recognised by East Midlands awards The Bricks 2015, where the project won Residential Scheme of the Year, seeing off stiff competition.

Mark Elliott, director at Mabec, said:

I’m so pleased that St John’s Village has again been recognised for its prime development and on a national level.

This could be our third award win in the last year – as well as the win at The Bricks, our site manager won the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Best Site Manager Award in 2014.

St John’s Village is a vast and stunning scheme that offers a very unique living environment for home owners. It is thought there is nothing else of this scale or history throughout the country and I’m not surprised it’s attracting so much attention.

Being empty for 24 years, the site needs a lot of careful development to bring it back to its former glory and we already have a number of new home owners that have moved into apartments and houses within the development who are already enjoying the lifestyle St John’s Village gives.

Over the next few months the Premier Guarantee judges will visit the nominated sites for all award categories and those shortlisted will be invited to a dinner in November when the winners will be announced.

St John’s Village is being marketed by joint agents Pygott & Crone, Lincolnshire’s leading estate agent and London based John D Wood, of which Bairstow Eves is the local representative, part of the Countrywide chain.

The Mabec team have more than 50 years’ experience in property development, the last decade being dedicated to the regeneration of older buildings in the East Midlands.
