Lincolnshire sees record number attend super rally at weekend

Harley Davidson Super Rally Event 2

MORE than 7,000 bike enthusiasts descended on Lincolnshire last weekend, when the Federation of Harley-Davidson Clubs’ Europe Super Rally came back to the UK for the first time in 26 years.

The event, which took place at the Lincolnshire Showground from the 21 to 25 May, saw visitors from all over the world including as far afield as Japan and New Zealand attend the Super Rally.

Hosted by the West London Harley Riders Events Ltd, highlights at the event included a high speed air display from the Red Arrows, Battle of Britain Spitfire and numerous big band performances over the five days.

Mal Nijjar, company secretary for West London Harley Riders Events Ltd, said that he couldn’t be happier with the how well the event went. He said:

It was a brilliant event that was well attended and enjoyed by many visitors both from the UK and the rest of the world. We were also able to raise a great amount of money for our chosen charity, Headway

Every year in a different country, the Super Rally is always organised by a different member of the Federation of Harley-Davidson Clubs Europe. In previous years the Super Rally has been held in Germany and Poland.

One lucky ticket holder also won a Harley-Davidson Sportster courtesy of the Harley- Davidson Corporation and the event played host to a Knights of the Dammed Medieval Jousting Show and a Man vs Food competition. There was a ‘Shopping High Street’ boasting more than 50 traders and stands and a variety of caterers and bars served up delicious food for attendees.

Local residents around Lincolnshire were also able to enjoy a convoy of more than 400 Harley Davidsons driving through the county on Thursday as bike enthusiasts made their way to the show. Mal added:

We have had a great response from local residents and also local traders. The businesses benefited largely from the Super Rally, whether they were a trader at the event or the local Harley-Davidson dealership, who saw a spike in profits this weekend. Even all the hotels in Lincoln were booked up over the weekend.

Jayne Southall, CEO of the Lincolnshire Showground, added:

We could not be more pleased with how the Super Rally went. There were many great activities for everyone to enjoy and everyone at the Lincolnshire Showground loved seeing all the Harley-Davidsons. The event exceeded all of our expectations and it was hosted by a brilliant team who ensured that the rally ran as smoothly as possible so that it was an enjoyable day for everyone.
