This October North Kesteven Centre, 1Life at Sleaford and Sleaford Leisure Centre in North Kesteven are supporting Stoptober, an exciting 28-day challenge to stop smoking.
The centres are urging members of the local community to ‘bin’ the habit this Stoptober by offering a free three-day gym pass to those rising to the challenge.
To claim a free pass, individuals must bin their last packet of cigarettes at one of the leisure centres. Once the habit has been ceremoniously ‘binned’, participants will be rewarded with the free pass and a whole host of moral support from the leisure centre team to help assist them in their new healthy lifestyle.
Matt Stothard, Contract Manager at North Kesteven Leisure Centre, commented:
“This is a fantastic government campaign and we’re proud to be supporting it. Smoking accounts for one in four cancer deaths so it’s vital that work continues to support smokers to quit. We hope our local residents take full advantage of our offer during Stoptober. It’s key that smokers don’t give up trying to give up – and we want to be on hand for those looking for that little but of support!”
The Stoptober campaign urges the thousands of smokers across the UK to quit smoking for a whole month, as research has shown that people who manage to stop smoking for that length of time are more likely to not start again.
