Visitor numbers were up at this year’s 130th Lincolnshire Show as the sun shone on what proved to be the biggest and best yet.
With the introduction of e-ticketing this year, show-goer numbers were up by 40 per cent in advanced online and phone ticket sales.
The show, which took place last week (18 – 19 June), experienced increased ticket sales at the gates and organisers are eagerly awaiting final visitor figures which they predict will be higher than last year’s attendance of over 60,000 attendees.
Highlights at this year’s show which reeled in the crowds included an impressive air display by the RAF Falcons parachute team sponsored by Thurlby Motors, falling at speeds of 120mph and completing advanced manoeuvres. Plus a flyover from the much loved Red Arrows, to the delight of the crowds. Four-times winning Paralympic skier Jade Etherington, former England cricket captain Alec Stewart and F3 racing driver Jack Harvey inspired the next generation of young athletes with appearances at the show.
Visitors were treated to a wealth of activities for all the family including workshops from scientist Dr D, live cooking demos by Lincolnshire chefs using local produce and gold-winning RHS Chelsea The University of Lincoln’s Crowders Social Media Garden.
Jayne Southall, CEO of the Lincolnshire Showground, said: “This year’s show really was the best so far and I’m thrilled with the increase in visitor numbers – it’s such a great day out for all the family and it’s pleasing we are welcoming more and more people every year.
“The show takes a lot of planning and organisation and everything ran like clockwork, plus we had two days of wonderful weather – which is great for traders and for the thousands of people who attended.
“There was so much to see including adrenaline packed displays from the RAF Falcons and Broke FMX, the freestyle motor cross experts.
“There was so much on offer over the two days and that is reflected in the increase in ticket sales. I can’t wait for next year.”
The Lincolnshire Show is a county institution and considered to be one of the best in the country.
