The Old Palace helps couple Escape to the Country

The Old Palace hotel in Lincoln has once again been used as a filming location, this time for the long-running BBC 2 series Escape to the Country.

In episode 41 of series 13, which was filmed in July last year, presenter Alistair Appleton helped retired expats Terry and Judith, with a budget of £300,000, return from France and find a rural retreat in Lincolnshire. The couple were shown three houses in Fiskerton, Folkingham and Timberland. While in the county, Alistair also met local conservationists Nigel and Karen Lowthrop from Hill Holt Wood who have an entrepreneurial approach to safeguarding the area’s ancient woodland. Hill Holt Wood is a social enterprise with charitable status and provides a wide range of different services from education and training to 14-19 year olds to adult education courses in the woodland, countryside and forestry management. This episode of Escape to the Country was first broadcast on BBC2 on 21st January.
