Reindeer from Scotland are preparing to travel to Lincoln to play a starring role in the city’s festive celebrations.
The team of six from the Cairngorms will be arriving in the city on Thursday, December 12, 2013, and parading from Biggers of Bailgate, near Newport Arch to the Cornhill in the centre of Lincoln.
The reindeer will leave Bailgate at 6pm and arrive at the Cornhill at about 7pm, where shoppers will be able to meet them and take photographs.
By December 12, the city’s Christmas celebrations will be in full swing, and people are invited to make the most of the chance to do some late night Christmas shopping and then perhaps stay in town for a meal or a drink with friends
Other entertainment to enjoy on the night, includes performances by Lincoln Sounds’ chorus on High Bridge and by the CAODS (County Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society) outside BHS – opposite the entrance to the Cornhill.
There’s so much to enjoy in Lincoln in the run-up to Christmas and people are urged to make the most of Lincoln BIG’s exciting Advent Calendar Trail.
Every day up to and including December 24 one business or venue – based at St Mark’s, in the High Street, Steep Hill or Bailgate area – will open and unveil the contents of its particular Advent Calendar Box. All that shoppers have to do, to be in with a chance of winning prizes worth at least £50, is to pop into the store or venue, fill in an entry form and drop it into a waiting post box and keep their fingers crossed and hope that they are that day’s winner.
In addition to the daily prizes, all Advent Trail entries collected throughout the event will go into an “end of promotion” draw and one lucky person will win £100.
Lincoln BIG’s highly popular Ice Rink will continue to add sparkle to City Square right through until December 31 (closed Christmas Day and Boxing Day). Sessions are open to everyone from school groups to individuals, families and even corporate parties and the message is “don’t miss out this year!”
