Grimsby’s Fishing Heritage Centre is celebrating after meeting the strict visitor quality standards set by VisitEngland for the eighth year running.
The centre, in Alexandra Dock, has been awarded the Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS) status by the national tourism body. VisitEngland inspectors described the current Fish, Ships and Rock’n’Roll exhibition as ‘excellent’ and that the centre tour ‘continues to delight and exceed the expectations of the first time visitor’. The shop’s wide range of goods and the café’s good quality food were also praised – with a special mention for the juke box and replica shipping posters that decorate the café walls. In their report the inspectors said the Fishing Heritage Centre fully merits its VisitEngland Quality Assured Visitor Attraction accreditation and continues to offer a very good quality visitor experience, exceeding the expectations of the first time visitor.
