From the glitz and glamour of a 1930’s Christmas at Belton House to the evergreen garlands of a medieval yuletide at Tattershall Castle, visitors to National Trust places in Lincolnshire can step back in time and discover the magic of Christmases gone by.
Each special place in The National Trust’s care will be decorated to reflect its own unique history, telling the stories of the people who lived and worked there, and allowing visitors to experience Christmas traditions of old, in the very place where they happened.
At Belton House you can see how the servants would have prepared for a high society 1930s party. Join one of the daily basement tours for a real insight into life below stairs and see the splendour of the family dining room dressed for a festive feast. At Gunby Estate, Hall and Gardens the house is filled with all the fun of the pantomime, telling the story of Gunby’s Massingberd family’s involvement in local theatre.
Astrid Gatenby, Visitor Experience Manager at Gunby Hall and Gardens commented:
The attention to detail our staff and volunteers take in preparing for Christmas creates such a feeling of authenticity, from singing carols around the grand piano to stirring the Christmas pudding, it’s like you’ve stepped back in time. And every time you visit, it helps us look after Gunby, so it’ll be protected, and can create new Christmas traditions for years to come.
