Lincs Inspire Libraries and Arts Development team will be hosting an Alien’s Parade on Saturday 27 August at 2pm!
The free event, which starts at Cleethorpes Library, provides the perfect opportunity to dress up in your most out of this world costume, join in this other-worldly space themed spectacle or simply follow the fun!
The parade is themed on the Martian invasion from the novel The War of the Worlds, to mark the 150th anniversary of author H G Wells’ birth.
The extra-terrestrial event will set off from Cleethorpes Library at 2pm and follow the play trail across Alexandra Road, through the gardens, down onto the prom, then up to Cleethorpes Leisure Centre before returning along the same route back to the Library.
Local artist Nicky Dillerstone has been busy working with groups of children at Grimsby Central Hall and Centre 4 during the summer break making alien creations which will be appearing in the parade.
It’s great to be part of a bigger project so that we can work together and really expand our ideas. The children who took part in the creative arts workshops really enjoyed the sessions and are looking forward to showing their work off in the parade.
Rachel McWilliam, Arts Development Officer for Lincs Inspire, said:
The parade follows on from the success of last year’s Mad Hatter’s parade. This year’s parade is going to be out of this world and perfect for families looking for something fun and a bit bonkers for the bank holiday! We hope you can join us.
