Maggie Antcliffe, Chairperson for the show explained:

We are very happy to announce it is the 70th anniversary this year of the iconic Epworth & District Agricultural Show.

We have a bumper show organized this year with new acts and entertainment with something for everyone, from daring horse acrobatics and motorbike stunts, to a sheep roadshow and fairground.

This year’s show will be a special celebratory one, with a new arena for The Young Farmers, who will be hosting a range of events and activities for all to enjoy, including lawn mower racing and a tug of war. The Vale of York Polo Club will be making another appearance with their breath-taking demonstration, along with a Sheep Roadshow which will include the popular sheep shearing.

Another new addition to the main arena this year will be the daring Galloping Acrobatics equestrian show. Full of razzle dazzle, the show will include flamboyant vaulting stunts on horseback.

For the equestrians, there will be an unaffiliated show jumping class which is open to everyone, and also a new side saddle competition which will be held in the main arena, along with a horse in hand show and a range of cob classes.

Keeping in with the show’s tradition, there will also be the Horticultural Tent, goats, shires and llamas, a petting area, and also a fun dog show. A range of food stalls and market stalls will provide ample shopping opportunities too.

Entertainment this year will take the form of a variety of live music acts from10.30am to 4.30pm in the beer tent, which will host a range of real ales.

Maggie continued:

The Show is a fabulous way to celebrate and demonstrate our natural heritage around the region, and we are grateful for all the hard work our committee of volunteers put in to make the show, as well as our many sponsors. This year is extra special with it being the 70th show, and we hope that everyone will come and join in the celebrations with us.
