The St John’s Village housing development in Lincolnshire has won a national award, recognising its environmental achievements and efficiency.
The regeneration of the Bracebridge Heath Grade II listed building and surrounding new build site has been awarded an Environment 2020 Award for its energy efficiency awareness as well as its activities in helping the environment for future generations.
Brought back to life by developer Mabec, St John’s comprises 186 homes and apartments – 106 of which are in the listed building.
Mabec and Lincolnshire-based agent, Pygott & Crone, have worked closely together to promote the St John’s Village development.
Mark Elliott, director at Mabec, said:
We are really pleased that St John’s has been recognised for its energy efficiency as a prime development in the East Midlands. This is a hugely exciting project and to know all the hard work has been rewarded by an Environment 2020 Award is fantastic.
This is now the third award win we have received for St John’s Village. Our site manager won the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Best Site Manager Award and the Residential Development of the Year.
Mabec has more than 50 years’ experience in property development, the last decade being dedicated to the regeneration of older buildings in the East Midlands.
Tim Downing, senior partner at Pygott & Crone, said:
St John’s is such an iconic building and we are pleased to be part of such a well-recognised project. The new home owners of the St John’s estate are thrilled and are really enjoying the unique living environment it offers.
Lincolnshire is in desperate need of good quality, new housing stock and St John’s Village is a prime example of this – working in partnership to alleviate the housing crisis is crucial and to have had this recognised at a national level is great.
Mabec has done a fantastic job in bringing St John’s back to life from a former un-used hospital building. The site has an incredible history and is stunning to walk around. It’s a pleasure to work in partnership with Mabec
