Winning racehorse owners at Market Rasen Racecourse get a Lincolnshire cheese hamper and stable staff receive boxes of Pipers Crisps from the county. Now racehorse trainers are being given Lincolnshire sausages.
Of course, they win prize-money, but the racecourse is keen to promote the wonderful fare of the county of Lincolnshire to its visitors as well.
The Lincolnshire sausages are being provided by Nick Bradley, the proprietor of Sunnyside Up Farm Shop, in Tealby Road, near Market Rasen.
The chief beneficiary of the new offer at the first meeting this month was 2014 Grand National-winning trainer Dr Richard Newland, who is pictured with Colin ‘Bud’ Booth, Chairman, and Nadia Gollings, General Manager of the racecourse.
Trainer Jonjo O’Neill, another recipient, was also delighted with the sausages that he could take home to Gloucestershire.
Nadia Gollings, General Manager, Market Rasen Racecourse, said:
The introduction of Lincolnshire sausages for winning trainers completes a hat trick of local food gifts for those whose horses are successful. With Dr Newland winning three races, there’s no question what he was having for breakfast the following morning!
The 2015/16 jump racing season at Market Rasen Racecourse came to an end on Thursday, 21st April, but it won’t be long before the first racing of 2016/17. That come up on the afternoon of Friday, 6th May. Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discount at marketrasen.thejockeyclub.co.uk or through the ticket line on 0344 579 3009.
