Lincoln College is extending its range of hair and beauty courses to help people find a job, get back into work after a career break or even set up their own business.
From September the college will be offering a number Level 2 awards ranging from manicure to waxing and from cutting men’s hair to facial shaving – which are fully-funded for people either aged 16 to 18 or unemployed.
A Level 2 Apprenticeship in Beauty Therapy is also being introduced for people who are over 16 and already working in a salon but want to further their skills.
Programme Manager for Hairdressing Angela Haberton said:
The hair and beauty sector is well established and offers a wide variety of exciting full-time and part-time employment opportunities.
A lot of our former students are either working in a salon or spa, running their own business, working overseas or on cruise ships. Some are even working as make-up artists for TV, film or theatre companies.
Programme Manager for Beauty Therapy and Complementary Medicine Tmasyn Lawton added:
Lincoln College is a fantastic place to train as we have a wide range of high-quality courses and industry-standard salons at our three campuses in Lincoln, Gainsborough and Newark.
We also have the new Deans Sport and Leisure which is home to a state-of-the-art salon and spa. From September the centre will also boast a new complementary medicine clinic from where we’ll be teaching degree courses in Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture.
The department is also expanding its range of Level 3 and 4 courses and for the first time will be offering:
- Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies
- Level 3 Award in Barbering (part-time)
- Level 3 Award in Facial Shaving and Massage (part-time)
- Level 3 Diploma in Theatrical, Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up
- Level 4 Award in Salon Management
- Level 4 Award in Hair Colour Correction
The college welcomes applicants from anyone aged 16 or over including those who are currently unemployed and looking to get back into work or those who are working already but looking to upskill.
To help cover the cost of any fees students aged 24 and over studying Level 3 or 4 qualifications may be eligible for a 24+ loan from the Government.
There are so many opportunities available ranging from part-time evening classes to full-time degree courses, many of which are free to eligible students.
There’s still time to enrol for this year so if you are looking for a rewarding and diverse career get in touch with our advisers who can provide information on the courses as well as financial advice and support.
We look forward to seeing you in September!
