Racecourse opens farm shop on racing days

At the heart of England’s most famous county for food produce, Market Rasen Racecourse is opening a farm shop during its horse racing meetings.

The local food initiative is being run in conjunction with Greens of Lincolnshire, a community run delicatessen and green grocer in the town of Market Rasen. Pip Kirkby, the racecourse’s General Manager said: “We are celebrating local Lincolnshire produce – adding to our provision of local cheese and produce hampers for the owners of winning horses at Market Rasen during 2013.” The farm shop is beside the winners’ enclosure and will be delighted to hold on to shopping while spectators enjoy their afternoon’s horse racing. The farm shop was launched at the Mother’s Day fixture and will be open again at the next race meeting on Sunday 14th April – Lincolnshire Rural Charities Countryside Raceday.
