John Hurt CBE joins honoraries at January graduation

BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor John Hurt CBE joined students, staff and guests at the University of Lincoln’s graduation ceremony at Lincoln Cathedral on Wednesday 23rd January.

Educated in Lincoln and Grimsby, John Hurt returned to Lincolnshire to become an Honorary Doctor of Arts at the University of Lincoln, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to television, film and theatre. During a career spanning six decades, he has appeared in more than 100 films including The Elephant Man, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and Harry Potter, as well as being a celebrated Shakespearian, theatre and television actor. He has received two Academy Award nominations, one Golden Globe and four BAFTA Awards, the last of which being the 2012 Michael Balcon Award for his Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema.
